nombrar algunos/as “Jun Shike”, “Guias Asociados/as”, sin presiones, sin expectativas,
Maria Ines Rodriguez, Daniel Alvarez, Claire Caraire and Leandro Moreno.

suelta completamente.

No serán
necesariamente caminantes del mismo Linaje. No serán necesariamente estudiantes
Sergio Fritz Sensei, aquí va mi reconocimiento, aliento, respeto y mis

The depth of the
drop
“The depth of the drop is the height
of the moon”
Dogen Zenji
Dear Sistahs and
Bruddahs in the Dharma:
I have been walking
the Dharma Path formally since 1969, in my native land of Tucuman, Argentina,
and was first authorized as a teacher in the year 1974 by my first teacher the
Monk Yuan Chueh, in the Ch’an Lineage.
I do remember,
(“re-cordar”: “to pass again through the Heart” in my tongue) many steps walked
and shared since then, being the most important the ones walked with my late
teacher and friend Robert Aitken Roshi for more than 20 years, of whom I am a
Dharma Successor in the Harada-Yasutani Lineage of Soto-Rinzai Zen, and the
treasured times with Taizan Maezumi Roshi, whose inspiration and encouragement
I truly and deeply appreciate.
Because of the Dharma
I did travel through many places, taught at many dojos with different Sanghas
and peoples, in different cultures and times.
Made many mistakes, and
I am sure I learnt from them.
Just some years before Aitken Roshi’s death I was strongly feeling
the cycles of life, the meaning of Legacy, the importance of the seed that my
teachers offered so generously, and the need of those seeds to continue the
Dharma Bloodline toward that pregnant and uncertain horizon that deserves to be
walked and shared.
So I have been
teaching for some 38 years so far, more than half my life already, and Zen and
Nei Chia practice is in my bones. Met many students in many times and places,
some of them clever, some smart, some brilliant, some not, some promising, some
much older in the Dharma than me, some….
So my heart says now
the time is ripe, this is the Autumn Bridge, and in this Bridge I trust the
Latencies.
I trust the Potentialities;
I trust the pregnancy, the fertile Black Female that Lao Tzu talks about.
And this are my
parameters for choosing and inviting the people I want to practice more
intimately with, more deeply, and eventually entrust the little wisdom and
notes, stories and dances I may have learnt and understood along the Way.
Legacy, as I said.
Bloodlines, I feel.
So I invited some old
time students of mine to be into this Zen Gang.
To join the uncertain,
to build Legacy with no territory map, to explore and recreate the Dharma in
tune and accord with our time and culture, to resonate with the wisdom of the
Originary Peoples of the Land, to be true to the Ancient Tradition and the New
Present Vital Challenges the world and all life faces today in front of the
Three Poisons trying to kill the precious potential of all life and dreams in
its many forms…
The ones I did invite
into this ballroom of dance, creation and struggle are not the cleverest or
more brilliant or devoted I met in my 38 years of teaching, I do not search for
that.
But truly they are the
ones I fully trust in their Latencies to express in time and space, that fresh
unknown pregnant Dharma Bloodline that
inhabited my dear Teachers and also inhabits me.
So one part of this
Autumn Bridge place and moment is to name some “Jun Shike”, “Associate Guides”,
with no pressures, no expectations, no territory map.
They will or not bloom
as teachers in time. That is not the point. The point is their Latencies. Time
will tell as Bob Marley said…
I trust them and will
engage myself in the task of humbly conveying the small wisdom I learnt, the re-creations
and new horizons, the dances I may have walked, as much as i can.
Their own seeds and
uniqueness will no doubt in time enrich our common particular Dharma Path.
“Tradition is what
changes itself continuously” said the Russian anarchist Bakunin. I do believe
in that tradition, as the Zapatista brothers and Sisters do say: “With one foot
in the past, another in the horizon, and the heart in the present”.
So sitting at the
Autumn Bridge, and fishing with no net or bait, the people I trust are:
Dario Vergara, Tash Matsuoka, Maria Ines Rodriguez, Daniel Alvarez,
Claire Caraire and Leandro Moreno.
I hope there will be
more in time, as this is not a closed circle. How could it be?
They are all of them
very different, with different background and interests.
Can´t be otherwise, we
do trust diversity, we do trust the rainbow.
Aitken Roshi said:
“Great Masters of the past were once as confused as you and i. They tell how
they renewed their vows: “Even if it takes me for the rest of my life, I will
devote myself resolutely to making it possible for my latent Buddhas to do
their work. Even if I am not successful, I devote myself right here to the very
end”. Now it is our turn. Your turn. My turn.”
This is my hope, my
dream and my practice. Trust it also is the one of my Dharma Companions too.

To study the Buddha way is to study the self; to study the self is to
forget the self.
To forget the self is to be actualized by the many beings.
When actualized by the many beings, body and mind,
as well as the bodies and minds of others, drop away.
No trace of realization remains, and this no-trace continues endlessly”.

P.S: It is then clear that no person besides the ones named in this document
can rightfully affirm that they are authorized to teach,
either by the School or by Augusto Alcalde (Roshi)
Thanks

“When Buddhas are
truly Buddhas, they do not necessarily notice that they are Buddhas.
However,
they are actualized Buddhas who go on actualizing Buddhas.
Unlike things and their reflections
in the mirror and unlike the moon and its reflection in the water, when one
side is illuminated, the other side is dark.”

As part of this process, of
the Autumn Bridge, of Legacies, affinities and resonances, i also feel the need
to recognize, and in this very act of recognizement and respect, to encourage.
That is the fundamental task of the Zen Guide, one morning Dai Ryu the
Great Dragon said to me. To encourage and offer my respect, from my position
inside the historical Lineage of Zen, to recognize and encourage people that
may sincerely contributed to the vision and expression that Zen offers
throughout times and cultures. They will not necessarily be students of my
school. Maybe they will not even be formal students of Zen or Buddhism.
The Dharma does not
belong to any frame or basket, and can express herself in other Traditions. And
the Lineages in our Way are vines, with flowers of varied forms, colors and
scents.
And in this act of
encouraging, in this act of offering my recognizement and respect, i express my
hope. Hope that which i may have humbly and sincerely seen in them will be expressed
from this moment with more clarity, hope that my support will be useful for
them to stand even more firm on their own feet, and deepen the expressions and
actions that made me embrace and hug them here and in this way.
And thus, the first one of them is Sergio Fritz Sensei, from Santiago
de Chile.
We met i think around the year 1990, and he was already walking the
Way.
We did practice together, and he started the first Zen groups in Chile,
in this Lineage, some time after he chose to walk his own way, at the same time
i stopped going to Chile for different reasons.
We met again, we always met again with Sergio my friend.
He is the Sensei of the Smallest Dojo of The World, as some Zen Teacher
did say on a visit. Maybe it is so, maybe it is the smallest one.
But that Dojo was and is the womb from which the rich variety of Zen in
Chile did come forth during more than 20 years of generous and sincere
practice, as well as of caring for a place that has the function of nourishing
the Way, without any wish to grasp or mold, in the spirit of complete
generosity and offering.
Some time later the Sensei did build and offered his Dojo in the Andes
to the Way, the Rayen Mahuida Dojo, "Flowering Mountain" in the
tongue of our Ancestors, which is and without doubt will be a good contribution
to the Dharma in the lands of Chile.
Sergio Fritz Sensei, here
goes my acknowledgement, my encourageent, my respect, and my best wishes,
offered in the spirit of what i do say before...
And together with this, a
good hug.

Encouragement and recognition without any effort to control, possess, or make any claims whatsoever. How wonderful and amazing for a roshi to so fearlessly defy the gravity of so many false universes!
ResponderEliminarI hope you know what you're doing. Or do I hope you don't know what you're doing?
Aloha nui loa,
Tash
